six years?

Sun Nov 8, 2009, 11:30 PM
I just realized that I missed my dA birthday on the 28th of October. I have now been on this site for 6 years. I can hardly believe it. I was only 16 when I joined - a junior in high school. Now I'm graduated from college and out in the real world, but somehow my love affair with dA continues.

It feels soooo nice to finally have the time to be around here consistently. At last I get to keep up with my message center, browse freely and make comments, post work and get some feedback...all of it is just so refreshing. :artist:

I do miss my old friends and watchers. Seems like most of them aren't around any more - things have been kind of dead around here since my return. But that just provides me with further motivation to post awesome work to attract some new attention! :D

Bless you all.

Soooo...Happy Halloween?

My first graders have been excited about this weekend for ages. Blah. Halloween is decidedly less thrilling when you're an adult. Especially when you don't have a party to go to or anything. And I live out in the middle of nowhere, so there aren't even any trick-or-treaters to amuse me. Booooring.

I do have a pumpkin I could carve, but doing that alone seems really lame.

So here I am.

I did decide to go ahead and dye my hair today. It came out a darker brown than I'd expected. I look kind of goth. Oops.

Also I went to an antique store today. It's a random hobby of mine. I love vintage things. Ended up finding an awesome 1950's navy blue skirt. It's super full, like a poodle skirt, really. In perfect condition and super cheap. I loooove it. Hopefully I can get a pic of it up here sometime soon.

Last night the wind blew so hard that it ripped all of the leaves off the trees. I woke up this morning and when I looked out I was soooo sad. Only tree branches. All of the color is absolutely gone. :crying:

Soooooo I'm ready for snow!! Bring it on! :w00t:

Found out some unsettling news the other day and it's been bringing me down. Also, where did everybody go lately? I feel like my friends have all suddenly disappeared.

At least I have eight little 6-year-olds to cheer me during the week. They're so cute.

My parents are about to go to bed. Looks like I'll be spending the night on the couch. Probably playing Bejeweled. I AM SO LAME. Need to start painting again or something. Anything to cure this cabin fever!!!

Love and kisses,
Eliz

P.S. I was reminded today of another reason I am glad to be home in Wisconsin - Sprecher Root Beer. If you've never had it, you are missing out. You can order it online and they'll ship it to you for pretty cheap. :D

Hey everyone!

I am happy to say that things have finally fallen into place for me. I managed to graduate from college (phew!), allowed myself an extremely relaxing (translation: lazy) summer, and am now enjoying a job as a first grade teacher at a little private school. I'm so glad to be done with college and settled into a new life. Things are really looking up.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who's supported me over the years, artistically and otherwise. I realize I've only been around sporadically in recent times, but I hope you know I have carried your kindness and encouragement with me through my life's - shall we say - adventures.

I know I keep promising that I'm going to upload a truckload of art, but this time I mean it. It's coming soon. And forgive me - it's going to absolutely flood your message center. You'll notice it's all photography...for now, at least. The drawings and paintings are hopefully going to start cropping up soon, now that I'm home and don't have stressful college coursework to deal with. (But first I have to get through nearly 1,000 deviations and messages that have piled up here in my absence. Oh my.)

So that's that! Hope everyone is well. Look forward to hearing from you.

Love always,
Eliz

So....

....yeah.

My life is a crazy mess right now.

There's some rough stuff going on in my personal life, and I'm doing my best to deal with it all. :hmm:

Also, holy freakin' balls, I'm supposed to be graduating in a month. And there is a sh*tload to be done in the meantime. Like wow, I have no idea how I'm going to pull this all together.

Anyway, when that's all over and done with I plan on legit returning to DA. You'll be seeing a lot more of me come summer. I have TONS of old pictures to post...lucky you, huh? :D

I don't have a job set up yet for the summer (uh oh...) so I might be doing the whole starving-artist thing. I've even thought about trying out some freelancing photography. We'll see.

I do want to do some more drawing...it's been ages and I miss it terribly.

But first I have to finish college.
Eww.

Wish me luck!

an update of sorts

Mon Dec 1, 2008, 5:46 AM
Hi friends!

I thought I should drop in and at least let you know that I'm still alive, since you haven't heard a word from me since mid-May (omg that was almost seven months ago!). But if you've been watching me for any length of time you know that I have a nasty habit of "semi-disappearing" (translate as: lurking) for months on end without sharing any of my glorious masterpieces with you. (Ha ha. )

About that...I didn't actually do any drawing or painting all summer. Sad, isn't it? I'm such a lazy butt. But I DID get a Nikon D50 for my birthday and have been playing around with it some, so I have almost a hundred pictures piled up for submission. I apologize in advance for the day when I flood your galleries with my mediocre photography. It's probably going to happen when I go home (yay home!) for Christmas break (yay Christmas!) So consider yourselves warned. :D
I'm also really really hoping to get back into drawing and painting over the break, so if you're watching me for that type of art, there's still a ray of hope for you! :P

I have no idea how many of you are still around to read this...there can't be more than five people who still give a rat's arse about me / my art on this site. But for those of you who care, much love to you, and thanks for being patient with me. :blushes: I've been slowly digging through 1500+ messages and deviations over the past couple of weeks. I'd like to comment on everything but obviously that's impossible, so just know that I am still here quietly admiring your work!

Bless you all.
Elizabeth
